Had I not been a teacher, entitled to all those lovely weeks of holiday BUT only at prescribed times, we too would have been attending Lewis and Keighly's wedding in Sydney. As it was, we are here, waiting to find out the details. So far, we have Linda's assurance that it was "lovely" and she'll get down to writing/sending more pics when she's got a minute. Just to whet our appetites even more, she sent this pic of Rick (Best Man) and Kris. I hope the Bride and Groom looked as good!

Just to remind ourselves of the wedding we did attend, in Cairo, when Ed was Best Man for Don and I was Best Woman for Linda at their wedding, back in 1996. I can't believe it was 10 years ago...

  Not for a couple of weeks or more mid-term, they can't - and we wouldn't have gone to the other side of the world for a couple of days. If we could afford to do that, I probably wouldn't be teaching anyway!

You would, you know. Probably volunteer work with new immigrants or something, but you'd be teaching in some capacity. Or busily building a new school in the back of beyond somewhere. Don't kid yourself.

  Well, looking back to my days in Cairo at the Refugee School, I suppose you're right. And when we last visited Mum and Dad, and I went with them to their art club, I couldn't resist helping a few people with their efforts at portrait drawing, even though I can't draw myself! Dyed in the wool then.

I did my duties (the only capitalised part of Keighly's excel spreadsheet wedding plan) and then two hours later when he was drunk he 'fell' in the river and lost the ring that I'd looked after with my life. He cried. Like a true aussie Sheila Keighly told him to pull himself together.

They had a cake made out of those cream-filled pastry balls that I've just forgotten the name of.

    Your Dad lost his wedding ring too. He claimed it fell off when he was rock climbing, but as he's always disliked every form of jewellery that doesn't also tell the time, I maintain he chucked it down the crevass on purpose. But as we'll be 30 this year (18th December - best put it in your diary now) tell Lewie it doesn't bring bad luck or anything!

    That's them. It was about three feet high but really narrow from the base all the way up. It was yummy.
