We went to Nymans Garden, one of my favourite medium sized gardens. The hydrangeas looked a little sorry for themselves this year, compared with last year's glorious show, but the walled garden was as stunning as ever.

You will note I actually remembered my camera, so the pics feature Mum, Dad & Ed admiring the vivid borders. We didn't know what the huge yellow flowers were, acting as a backdrop with the buddleia, but we reckoned they were 4 metres tall.

Here the family are, more or less posing for the camera.

Dad was the most appreciative - he loves a splash of colour! The rest of the gardens were also lovely, with wonderful views from the lime avenue across the High Weald of Sussex, and shrub lined lawns against the backdrop of the ruined house.

They really are stunning. If you love bright colours, these make your heart sing!
Those borders just look so gorgeous. Nice photographs.
