Sid's Day Out

by lizdavies @ 23 Apr. 2008 - 20:32:44

In the Nursery, the children have shown a lot of interest in animals, so I took Sid in to meet them today. She found it very alien at first and spent a long time before the children came in rubbing her scent about a bit and hiding in corners, but she gradually relaxed.

This picture was taken by Keely. Sid and her adoring fans!

The children loved her - even the rough impetuous ones treated her gently. No-one tried to pick her up and although they didn't give her much breathing space, they listened about stroking her in the right direction and not poking.

Even so, she had to be rescued for a rest midday, before going through it all again with the afternoon children! They all hoped she will be there again tomorrow. Sid hopes not. Can you spot her on this one?

Wow!! I love that top pic, the children's hands look so small!!!
I love the way children look after and act around animals (and babies for that matter)!!!!
Bless them!!!

It is a great pic isn't it? No cropping, and taken by a 4 year old! It's my favourite.

I have others, but they identify the children too clearly to post. It was lovely that several children who were rather nervous at first, ended up stroking her.

I know that she is not a particularly large cat, but she looks like a panther in the top picture. What will health and safety say? Or is your h&s person sane?

Well she was a bit nervous about children getting scratched or whatever and wouldn't let the cat roam freely without constant supervision - we had to keep her in a closed room with adult in attendence - although I let the children come in and out as they pleased, so I guess they were in more danger of getting fingers trapped in the door, which we usually hook back.... Anyway, everyone loved Sid.

I am sure it was very interesting for her but still I will say well done Sid because you are a very patient cat indeed to put up with so much fuss especially as you do look like you are big enough to eat a small child!
